The Habaki (blade collar) is hand-made out of polished brass and each hilt is covered in Same (ray skin) and tightly wrapped in the traditional "cross-over" style with black cord. Balance: The LTC's blade is much wider near the tip than at the handle. This shifts the balance point of the knife forward to rest 3-1/2'' in front of the handle. It is actually this unique blade curvature that allows the LTC Kukri to out-cut machetes and swords twice its size! This allows chopping to be accomplished with minimal effort, using inertia alone to complete the cut. Why? Because once the LTC's blade is swinging, inertia itself is often enough to complete the cut. Weight: At 17 ounces, the LTC is no cream puff .
